Pirouettes. Comedy, 2 acts. 8 males (variety of ages and shapes); 2 female. Only available for professional production. Please contact the author or Playmarket regarding rights. In rural New Zealand, the town of Maungakaka is in a recession, partly brought upon by the prosperity of the neighbouring town, Hillcrest. Their respective rugby clubs mirror this phenomenon. The once successful Maungakaka Rugby Club has been approached by their arch enemies, Hillcrest, to amalgamate and create one very strong club. The players gradually realize that they must put aside their own personal grievances in order to do the best for the future of rugby in the area. Along this comic and chaotic journey, the guys come to terms with the fact that maybe rugby isn’t the backbone of the community that it once was. They find that community strength and spirit can be found in the least likely place, namely the production of a male ballet in a fundraiser for the local school. |

Information. 2 act comedy. Very simple set and technicals. 3 females. 3 males. An increasingly farcical comedy about childhood friends Larry, Tina and Rob, who now meet socially in a coffee house. Larry can't remember the name of the girl he's started dating. While Larry, Tina and Rob try to find out her name, a series of escalating misunderstandings produce the belief that Rob has been sowing his wild oats a bit too close to home. Meanwhile Larry's parents, while trying to make Rob honour his newfound responsibilities, question Larry's sexuality and his relationship, as no one seems to know the girl's name. |

Dateless. 1 act comedy played in real time, approx 30 mins. Cast: 1m, 1f. Very simple set and technicals. They say opposites attract. That is definitely not the case when Roger stumbles into Camilla's place of business. Or is it? In this 25-30min comedy we learn that outward appearances are quite often misleading and that commonality can be found between the least likely people. Join the comic journey as each of our characters reveal a bit more about themselves than expected. |
