PLAYWRITING COMPETITION
FISHER FUNDS PANZ 50th ANNIVERSARY
COMPETITION FOR NEW PLAYS, 2008 - in 3 CATEGORIES. The competition has now closed.

The Playwrights Association is grateful to Fisher Funds for prize money sponsorship.
DETAILS: 1. Prizes for each category are: First $300, and two of $100 each.
2. An Overall Winner will also be awarded the PANZ engraved silver tray trophy for the following year. The trophy must not be taken out of New Zealand.
3. Each category is for a one act play, 25 - 50 min playing time. The entries must be suitable for stage production.
THE CATEGORIES ARE: a) Comedy, b) NZ History, c) a play suitable for Teenage Actors.
4. The entry fee for each play is $20, and a further $25 payable if a detailed critique is requested. Members may submit more than one play in any or all categories.
5. The adjudicators are: Hilary Norris for Comedy and NZ History, and Paul Willis for a play suitable for teenage actors.
6. Closing date is Sat 1st September 2008. Entries must be posted to the Registrar, at above address. Please do not send entries till after 1st May.
7. There is no specific directive as to script format, though Condition C1 is to be noted.
8. This is a members only competition. New members are welcome to join by sending $25 subscription to:

9. The judges' overall reports will be published in the PANZ newsletter.
10. The organisers expect to announce the results at the PANZ AGM in November 2008.
11. Photocopies of the entry form and/or entry forms printed from the internet are acceptable.
12. Neither the Association nor the adjudicator is bound to enter into correspondence regarding the results or the comments made by the adjudicators.
13. All rights for each play will remain with the author.
RULES: R 1. Each entry must be the author's own work. It must not be an adaptation of anyone else’s previously published or performed work.
R 2. It must not have won any previous award, nor have been presented to a public audience in any form - eg. production or reading.
R 3. No workshopping of this new work by an established theatre company, or recognised theatre group, is permitted prior to entering your play in the 2008 competition.
R 4. Your work should not be known to the adjudicator concerned until the results are announced.
R 5. Your name and any identifying details must not appear on the script in any place. Authors' commonly used pseudonyms are not acceptable.
R 6. The scripts must be accompanied by a completed entry form and each entry fee is to be submitted, with the playscript and the entry form, by cheque made payable to Playwrights Association of NZ.
R7. You may enter the same play in more than one category, but we require a separate entry form, a separate fee, and a separate copy of your play for each category.
R 8. Should you require return of your manuscript a large SAE should accompany the entry. It is advisable to use a plastic envelope to save rain damage during postal delivery.
CONDITIONS: C1. The script must be typed legibly and securely bound.
C2. The script should be written on one side of A4 paper, and the pages must be numbered.
C3. Every care of the scripts will be taken by the Association. However, no responsibility for loss or damage will be accepted by PANZ or the Registrar.
C4. Entrants must normally reside in New Zealand.
