Checklist:  1.    Script with title and only your pseudonym appearing on it

     2      One side only of A4 paper, and pages numbered

3      Properly bound - we suggest plastic comb spiral binding.

4      A signed and dated entry form - a separate entry form if more than one.

5      The required fee.

6      Membership fee of $25 if not currently financial (financial year is to 31.08.10)

7      A large SAE for return of script and critique (if applicable)

DETAILS

1. Prizes are: First $300, and two of $100 each.

2. The winner will also be awarded the PANZ engraved silver tray trophy for the following year. 

The trophy must not be taken out of New Zealand.

3. The competition is for a one act play, 20 min to 40 min playing time. 

The entries must be suitable for stage production.

4. Entries are entirely anonymous, and must only be submitted using a pseudonym (pen-name).

5. The entry fee is $20, and a further $25 payable if a detailed critique is requested. 

Members may submit more than one play.

6. The adjudicator is Kevin Murray, actively involved in Community Theatre.

7. Closing date is 31st August 2010. Entries must be posted to the Registrar, at above address.

Please do not send entries till after 21st May.

 8. No entries will be accepted by e-mail, or other electronic means.  Hard copy only, please.

 9. There is no specific directive as to script format, though Condition C1 is to be noted.

10. This is a members only competition. 

New members are welcome to join by sending $25 subscription with their completed entry.

11. The organisers expect to announce the results at the PANZ AGM in November 2010. 

The results will be published in the PANZ Nov/Dec 2010 newsletter.

12. Photocopies of the entry form and/or entry forms printed from the internet are acceptable.

13. Neither the Association nor the adjudicator will enter into correspondence or any other

communication regarding the results or the comments made by the adjudicators.

14.  All rights for each play will remain with the author.

 

RULES:  R.1.  Each entry must be the author's own work. It must not be an adaptation of anyone else’s previously published or performed work.  We do advise that you check copyright if quoting a previously published work.

 

R.2.  This competition is for a 'new' play:  in other words it must not have won any previous award, nor have been presented to a public audience in any form – eg. production or reading.

 

R.3.  No workshopping of this new work by an established theatre company, or recognised theatre group, is permitted prior to entering your play in the 2010 competition.

 

R.4.  It may not be performed until the results of the competition have been announced, and in no way should your identity be known to the adjudicator until the results are announced.

 

R.5.  Your name and any identifying details must not appear on the script in any place.  Authors' commonly used pseudonyms are not acceptable.

 

R.6.  The script/s must be accompanied by a completed entry form and entry fee, to be submitted by cheque made payable to Playwrights Association of NZ.  If entering more than one play in this competition please complete a separate entry form for each with sufficient fee to cover the whole cost.

 

R.7. Should you require return of your manuscript a large SAE should accompany the entry. It is advisable to use a plastic envelope to save rain damage during postal delivery. 

 

CONDITIONS: 

C.1. The script must be typed legibly and properly bound.

 

C.2. The script should be written on one side of A4 paper, and the pages must be numbered.

 

C.3. Every care will be taken with your entry/entries, but no responsibility for loss or damage of your script/s will be accepted by PANZ or Registrar.
